Counting the Days!!

Hope your Easter weekend was fabulous!  Ours was!

We got to spend it with Sam and her little family, and
had a great time!!

DSCN1293
(Don’t you love Little Miss Sassy Pants??!!)

As you can see, the family is about to get a little bigger.

AND guess what???

Sam is planning on giving birth to her new baby girl…

RIGHT HERE IN MY HOUSE…IN MY BATH TUB!!!

I had four cesareans so this is definitely all new to me!!

But I am soooo very excited!!

Her midwife came here today for a home visit, and  she is
absolutely delightful!

She has successfully delivered over 800 babies, and I am thrilled
that she will be delivering our new little grandy!!

We have a wonderful oversized tub that the midwife says will
be perfect, and have a nice sized master bedroom should Sam decide
against the water.

If any of you have participated in a home birth, I would love to hear
about your positive experience!!!  Click on the birdy in my sidebar for
my email, and write me and tell me about it, ok???

And of course, I covet your prayers for all of the details!!

Not the least of which will be Nana and Grampa’s nerves!!!

I sure know what to say!!!  I’ve seen in it a dozen movies!

I’ll go boil some water and bring some sheets and towels!!”
HA!!!

Have a joyful week and know how much you bless me!!
Big Hugs,
Becky

Oh Becky, That will be wonderful. I had told my daughter when she was expecting our granddaughter that I would not be in the room when she was born. But, I knew this was going to be my only grandchild and when the day arrived a team of horses could not have made me leave the room. Only in the movies had I seen a birth, But would not take anything for being there to witness a true miracle. You will love the fact that it will be at your home. When is the birth date? Soon? Will keep you all in my prayers. I am excited for you.

Oh, so exciting! I have been present for most of my grandbabies births and one niece but none were home births. It is a most amazing experience! It always brings tears to my eyes.

Oh my goodness, Becky! Nothing like being in the thick of things! : ) I have no experience with home births, but I was originally going to the hospital with my daughter when she was going to give birth and be right there for the birth. They were doing hypnobirthing {which I had never heard of either} and I would have been the "liason" between them and the medical staff. She wound up having a C-section so that didn't happen. Just as well as I'm sure I would have passed out! Good wishes and prayers!

Sam looks so the same as I remember her. She's hardly changed in the 10 years since I've seen her.

I have known alot of people who have done home births. I am not one of them, nor would I wish to be, but I have heard ONLY good things about home births.

Send my love to Sam. Can't wait to see you in a few weeks...and I'm bringing a little gift along with me. (Read my post a few down about letting go...you will realize that I will be giving a piece of my heart to you.)

Love,
Patti

What a wonderful experience! A most beautiful time for a woman! Congratulations!

Completely and totally cool.

I guarantee that neither of my girls would do that at my home. I can see the younger one doing it at HER home, but I'm well... sort of a panic button on hold most of the time.

I will be interested to hear how it all goes.

Isn't it funny how today something so normal and wonderful as childbirth has been made to be so mysterious and scary?! Since THE beginning, women have been giving birth. And throughout MOST of the centuries of mankind's existence, the process took place with female family members and/or midwives in attendance, not doctors!

I was blessed to be in the room with my daughter and her husband from the time my daughter was admitted to the hospital, right on through to the time my first grandbaby was born. And while it was hard for me to watch MY baby in so much pain while she was bringing HER baby into the world, it was such a blessing to be able to share it all!

It will be an incredible experience for you, Becky - one you will cherish forever! ;)

Blessings,

Oh Becky!!! How wonderful!! I have had five water births with a midwife so far and they are wonderful!!! I have chosen to have my babies at a birth center - they send me home 3 hours afterwards so I get to sleep in my own bed and have my sweet hubby tend to me and the kiddos. I would love a homebirth but I think all my teen age boys would really object :0)!! Hahahaha just a little too much for them!! Your daughter is going to have a wonderful experience - water is a great place to hae a baby - so soothing!!! Can't wait to hear the details!!!

Hugs and blessings,
Christine

Hi Becky,
Me too, I had c-sections. I was in the delivery room with my oldest daughter when both my grands were born. It was a tearful and joyful experience. She had a mid wife deliver Aleena but with pain meds in the hospital and Ty was delivered by her Dr. that is also a friend of hers at the hospital.
I'm sure all will go well, and with a mid wife she will know if there is any problem she should go to the hospital.
Gods blessing to you all...
Big hugs, Elizabeth

I'm so glad you had a wonderful Easter. Your kids look so happy and your granddaughter is adorable. I will pray that all goes well for your daughter and baby. I don't have any experience with home birth so I don't have anything to share:) God is good!

WoW, how exciting is this! You are going to have a lifetime memory that will be precious! I too had 3 C sections, so nothing about this, but you can share with us! Have a wonderful Thursday!

WOW things have changed around here Becky.
Your daughter looks JUST LIKE YOU.
I also had 3 c-sections, so no water for this girl. I was always scared of that procedure, I don't know. Give me a nice comfy bed and lots of drugs, yes lots of drugs, lol.
How exciting for you and the family. WOW.
Good luck to Sam. Just having you there (don't faint) will be wonderful.
Nice to see you again Becky. Hugs to Madison too.

Never been to a home birth or any birth for that matter! I think it sounds fascinating though! I think it's a neat idea if Mom is healthy and able to handle it. I'm not so sure I wouldn't want the drugs! I wish you all luck and a happy healthy baby!
