It Really Is A Choice

Happy Monday!!

Hope your weekend was grand!!

Can I talk to you
about something from my heart today?

I have come to realize through my own experiences,
and shared experiences with others,
that what happens to us in this life isn't
nearly as important as our response to
what happens.

I don't know about all of you, but I have days,
that are full of minutes,
in which I am constantly having to

Something will happen, someone will say or do
something that upsets or saddens me, me or one
in my family may have a health issue, I will
get some bad news, I will kick the chair leg, and be
certain I have a broken toe,  people will pluck my
nerves with their driving, or maybe I will just get up
on the wrong side of the bed!

Must. make. a. choice.

Instead of

I am learning to choose JOY!
And to choose to be thankful anyway!
No matter what we're faced with, the majority
of the time, it could be way worse,
and usually pales next to things
many other people are having to deal with!

We also function much better and are generally
happier when we choose not to make a problem
or a circumstance the sole object of our focus.

The Bible says it like this:

...whatever things are noble, whatever things are
just, whatever things are pure, whatever things
are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there
is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy,

There is always something we can be
thankful for, and when we choose joy
and thanks, the negative emotions
lose their place of prominence, and our
spirits are lifted...

All I know is this~~
This life is far too short to spend in the pit!
Some days I may have to choose joy
a dozen or more times, but I always
feel better and have a better day when I do!!

Choosing joy today!
How about you?

Hugs to you all!!
You are such a blessing!

What a beautiful post Becky! One of my favorite verses is Romans 12:12, "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;" There is always something to be joyful about.

Oh Becky, I know all this but needed so bad to be reminded today. You my friend are my angel today. Mother is on Hospice and I sit daily and wait for God to call her home. There is so much saddness around yet I DO have so much to be thankful for. It's so easy to loose sight of this during the bad storms in our life. Thanks for the reminder today. God Bless you

Good morning Becky! Oh how VERY right you are....we MUST make choices every day, either good or bad, so why not choose JOY? And with it comes His peace which settles down in our spirits and brings us comfort. This life is just soooo full of trials, tribulations, sadness, and just plain yucky stuff, how wonderful is it to know that IN THE MIDST of it we CAN choose joy...Have a wonderful day my JOYFUL friend...Hugs, Debbie

btw, isn't it wonderful that joy is contagious? You ALWAYS spread it around...check out my slide show on Sam's nursery when you get a chance and see where your sweet gift is sitting in his rooms... :)

Well said, Becky. Life always seems to go matter the circumstances...when you choose JOY.

We've been studying James in our Bible study...He says it well..."Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." (James 1:2-3)

Becky, we have a saying in our family when something bad happens...Is it cancer?....When the answer is no, it puts it all in perspective!

What a beautiful post. How many times I wish I would have chosen differently in any given moment. Wished I had calmed down and waited patiently for the irritation to pass before acting hastily.

What a wonderful post, Becky, and one that I so needed to hear! That is the perfect verse, too. This past year has been a tough one, and I admit that I've not always chosen peace and joy. But I am trying to do so right now! Thank you SO much for the sweet and gentle reminder:) Have a joy filled day!!!

Miss Becky,
I couldn't agree with you more........somehow it is a supernatural thing when we choose to be thankful instead, no matter what........ and it is a choice, but when we choose that instead of whining and pitching a fit, it is like the Lord just somehow transforms the situation, there really is no way to explain it............just do it as obedience to the Lord, and we quickly find out the benefits.
I choose Joy too...................
Love ya sweet friend,
