Junkin' Joy

Wow!!

I hit an estate sale today that was
just a great sale with great people,
and TONS of good stuff!!

It's the first sale that I have waited
in line for, and it sure was worth it!!
Such a fabulous array of vintage items!
I could hardly choose!!

And this sale was one of the ones
that was special to me.

You see...
Every once in awhile at estate sales,
something wonderful happens.

As I go from room to room, I get
a deep sense of the person who lived there.
As I touch their belongings I feel a
connection to them and their lives.

It's really cool.
I don't know why it happens...maybe
because some of the things that stir
my soul, clearly stirred theirs too.

Or maybe because sometimes the
treasures reflect
 the character of the person,
and what they valued.

It becomes an emotional experience,
and not just a hunt for good junk.

I don't know...
you tell me.
Do you ever experience
anything like this in your
treasure hunting?

It touches my heart,
and gives me much to ponder.

Although I went on a hunt for
some wonderful vintage items for
my shop, I came home with those,
and so much more.

Hope you have a lovely evening!
Blessings and hugs!
Becky

I've never had it happen but I've heard of people who have. I think you're lucky! Love the blue bottle with jute and that cute little deer, it's darling.

You really hit the jackpot with your finds! Yes, I am that way too. I usually always wonder about who and where it has been and the memories hidden inside. I collect cabinet cards (especially bridal ones) and always think about who they were and the lives they lived.

Thank you for sharing your treasures at Potpourri Friday!

I got that feeling looking at your photos.
I feel quite sad sometimes when I see the things people obviously treasured being discarded. Penny x

Love your finds. I am taking a day off in the middle of July for a country sale. It is a yearly event. I cant wait. Right now I am in the middle of a move and totally exhausted.. But cant wait to put out all of my treasures and have a sale of my own..

I think I can sense it from here just looking at those sentimental items. Very cool. Thanks for sharing them and your post. It is a good reminder, I think, of why we love the old stuff so much... because there's a story there behind each and every one.

Hi Becky! What wonderful treasures you came home with...when I pop into an estate sale my thoughts always go to whomever lived there. Its hard for me sometimes as it makes me kind of sad, yet when I come away with treasure, I feel blessed that I am enjoying something that someone else loved so much. Have a fun weekend!!! :))

Estate sales are wonderful! I have some artwork I purchased from an estate sale and every time I look at them I always think of how cool the artist must have been that painted them.

Wonderful treasures that share wonderful memories.

Have a *fancy* weekend!

Your treasures are beautiful. I think there is a connection because you look beyond the "stuff" and naturally wonder about a person when you view their personal items. I constantly wonder about someone's life as I view earthly things and think about what their life might have been like. From these items it seems there was a beautiful quality to the life that was lived. Maybe a gentle quality.
Such a mystery!!!

Yes! I completely understand. These things tell a story - the life and loves of the person that treasured these items. I feel I am taking them on as a caretaker - taking on loving these treasures someday someone else will look at and wonder. Gorgeous finds - I am happy to be your newest follower,
Kathy
