Blissful Whites Wednesday!!

Welcome to Blissful Whites Wednesday!

On a somber note,
I'm so sorry for all who have been affected by Sandy.  We need to join our hearts and
pray for everyone who has been impacted by
this monster storm, and seek out ways to help
in a tangible sense for those who have lost everything.

I just have to say a big, heartfelt,
thank you to all of you who participated last week, and helped get the word out about this new "white party"!

I want to especially thank Kathleen, for
the fantastic idea of a linky party featuring
whites,for blogging about BWW, and
joining the 1st party!  Thanks so much!

I also want to thank my friends, Debra,
at Common Ground, for creating a blog post about BWW, and Karen at My Desert Cottage for
helping announce BWW, too!

I have been having fun getting started on
Christmas items for the shop!

Love creating these sweet vintage inspired trees, and gift card holders/favors!

I will have a full White Christmas
collection of my original designs in
the shop over the next 2 weeks!

Last week Lynn at Shabby Story, shared
this awesome frame with some favorite
treasures dangling from a wire!  Just love it,
and love her style!  You'll love it, too!

And Kris, at Junk Chic Cottage, wowed us with her wonderful, new, white, slip covered sofas!  Her home is sooo lovely! You'll want to go check it out for yourself!

Have a delightful week!

Let's Party!!!

Remember to link back to the party

Make It Monday! Bottle Brush Trees!

I'm sure you've seen some
of these little cuties around!

I love the vintage look, and they
are soooo simple to transform!

I searched and searched for them,
and couldn't find them, and one
day decided to see if the green
ones would bleach!

So here's a little tutorial that will
take the mystery out of them!

You can find these trees at Michael's.  They come in bags with different sizes for $22.
Be sure to take your 40% off Michael's coupon!! They also have a tiny bag that are already natural, but no large naturals. I found them in a bag of different sizes
at Wal Mart, too. Don't buy the individual ones there, though.  I don't think they are sisal, but I'm pretty sure the ones in the bag are.

Be sure to take your 40% off Michael's coupon!!

You will need just a few supplies!

~purchased trees
~regular bleach
~a bowl or bucket that your largest size tree
will fit in laying down
~a pair of tongs

Do this in a well ventilated area!

I used a 2 qt. bowl filled an inch below the top edge with water and 1 cup of bleach

If you use less bleach and it's not working very quickly, just add in a little more bleach.

Step 1

Remove tree from base.  Don't worry about
mashing the bristles.  You can make it look
great again after your all done!

Step 2

Put trees in water making sure they are completely immersed.  Some trees start
to lose their color right away, and others
take longer.  I don't know why it makes
the water brown, but eventually, the bleach
makes it clear again.

Step 3

Take the tongs and swish each tree around a bit to make sure the bleach penetrates into the middle of each one.

The tree in the picture above was bleaching much more quickly than the others.  You can also leave them a pale green
if you'd like.

Within about 5-15 minutes your trees should be
bleached back to their natural color!

If you have a tree/s that are taking longer,
just be patient and leave them in til they
are fully bleached.

Step 4

Rinse them out with cold water
and dry on a paper towel.  The bleachy
smell will dissipate as they dry!

YAY!!  Now you have some adorable trees
to decorate for the holidays!!

Keep an eye on the shop!
My decorated trees will soon be making
their debut!!

And please visit each "Make It Monday" for a fun holiday DIY project!

The first Blissful Whites Wednesday was
a wonderful success!  Come join the party this
Wednesday, won't you? The link will be
up Tuesday evening!!

 Have a lovely week!
Hugs and Joy to you!

At My Workbench-Blissful Whites Wednesday!!

HAPPY MONDAY everyone!!
Hope your weekend was wonderful!
We had Bird's baby shower Saturday,
and it was just perfect!
{More about that later in the week!}

I am starting to work on holiday items for friends, family, and the shop!

{lovely buttons created by Dolly Madison! You can find her link in my sidebar}

Can you believe how fast this year is going by??  Too crazy!!

I do have to admit, though, that as
much as I enjoy creating pumpkins,
I am ready to create all sorts of
other things, now!

Love the nostalgia of bottle brush trees,
don't you? They are so much fun to work
with, and come in all sizes, too!

Just buy the green ones at the craft stores, and to get them white, remove the stands,
and soak them in bleach water until they
are the desired color!

You won't want to stop!!
 Don't Forget!!
Blissful Whites Wednesday
begins this week!  I will have the link
up tomorrow evening!  Don't miss the fun
and inspiration!!

and know what a joy it is to have
you visit!!
