Frugal Coastal Elegance

Being the lover of the sea that I am,
I adore bringing some of that breezy,
coastal vibe into my home.

These tall white candles are all over
the internet and Pinterest. They are easy to alter, and are not only made in the USA, but they are only $1 each at Dollar Tree!!
AND they are part of their regular stock!!

Here are a couple I did a quick and easy makeover on, along with adding a little
coastal charm to a vintage bottle.

For the bottle, I used my Dremel with an 1/8" bit to drill a hole in the white shell, wrapped natural jute twine around the neck of the bottle, slid the shell on, and tied a knot.
Love the simplicity and charm.

For the candle on the left, I used a very lightly tea stained cheese cloth~~~which is so cheap and adds wonderful
texture to anything it's paired with {available at WalMart in the craft section}

I just wrapped it around the jar a little
loosely for a bit of a draped effect.
Then tied some gorgeous sea mist silk sari
ribbon around the top {you can use whatever
ribbon you like} I added a fabulous button
that looks like a starfish by tying it on
with twine.

I wish I could tell you that you
can still buy these buttons, but I am sorry to say that they are no longer available.  My friend, Paul, at The Button Smith on Etsy, and thebuttonsmith.com, does offer a
fabulous selection of bling, and I'm sure
one of the other pearl buttons would look
wonderful, too!

For the candle on the right, I did basically the same thing, but used natural sisal that comes in a roll at JoAnn. I peeled off one layer, cut a piece that would wrap around the
candle, and added the ribbon and button.

I didn't permanently adhere anything since candles get burnt down. That way I can reuse the elements later on!!

These will probably be added to my spa tub in our master bath! Gotta finish decorating and show you the makeover!
I sooo love it!

Hugs to you!

Blissful Whites Wednesday!

Hi Friends!

Getting the party going early today!!
But you can link up for a whole week!!

Like many of you, I adore old ironstone!

My "just for fun" collection is minimal,
but I am working on full place settings
of wonderful vintage restaurant ware to
use everyday here at the house of "S".

I have an utter infatuation with creamers.
I do a really good job of controlling it,
though, and only own a few so far.
{Of course, I am open to accepting any
cast offs you might have...wink wink!}

This little straight one is a fave!

But then so is this scalloped edge
Buffalo China one!  They're sitting on top of
a Johnson Brothers' butter plate.

Just little things...
that make me smile!

Here are some of the fabulous links from
last week's party!

Love the pretty whites at this garden

 Such a beautiful setting!

created this lovely "notice board"

Lots of love went into this!
Adore the pocket!!

transformed this trunk into
a lovely functional coffee table!

Just love it!!

OK...time to link up!

Have a lovely week, and
share your smile today!!
