From My Studio-And a Heavy Heart

Hello Friends

I am busy designing and creating Christmas pretties, and am really loving the whole process.

I finished making these last night, and will be back at it hard after I spend some time on schoolwork with our 17 yo daughter.

I love the elegant woodland look of them!

These take about 15 steps to complete, along with time to let things dry.

I hope that when you see people's handmade
creations you see them with a heart that truly
appreciates all the time, creativity, and attention to detail that goes into each creation.

There is quite a process involved with
each of my original creations.

~I have an idea that just might work!
I may sketch it out, or just work off of what
is in my mind's eye.

~I set out to source just the right design elements needed to create it.  {hours, days, weeks!}

~I purchase all I need and often wait
til it is shipped

~I work with the elements until I have one
made that I love.  {hours, days!}

~Then the easier, but still quite time
consuming process of assembling, with
lots of attention to detail,
{and a spoonful of lovin'}

Taking good clear photos {usually 5-25}, editing the photos, creating the listing and putting them in my shop.

I buy handmade and vintage all the time from small shops,

And buy at least 65% of my supplies from other small business owners!

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Hobby Lobby and Home Goods but there is just something about supporting small businesses that gives me a deep sense of satisfaction,
simplicity and connection.

I saw this, and it sums up how I feel
about shopping handmade.

I am sure you, like me, are burdened with
a heavy heart about the tragedy in Paris.

I am praying for Paris, and all who have
been affected by this horrific act of terror.

We do need to realize that this can happen
at any time right here in our nation.

We need to be praying for the whole world
that this scourge of terror will be stopped,
and that people's hearts will be open to and
receive the truth of God.

We also need to be becoming increasingly aware
of all that is going on around us in public places.

I'm not saying be paranoid, but just be aware,
and be sure to notify authorities immediately if you see anything suspicious.

With Love and Prayers,

Dear Becky, your heartfelt description of what we as artists do from beginning to end is so perfectly said. Thank you for letting the world know about the dedication it takes to create handmade.

your stag ornaments are wonderful! Creating is sometimes a long process but the end product is so worth it when it turns out just the way we envisioned it!
Our hearts are broken for the people of Paris and you are right, we all need to be more aware of our surroundings because it can and sadly will probably happen here again!

They are beautiful! And yes, I try to shop handmade and local all the time. I have no words for Paris. So devastating. =(

Love the creations you make. They give my heart a little smile just looking at them. God has given you an incredible gift :-) I join you in praying for France along with our entire world. Like you shared, we need to be aware that it can happen anywhere, anytime. The hope & promise is in knowing our Savior, & knowing that know matter what may come, He's coming back one day to make all things right! :-)

I always love visiting you! I can tell that much love and care goes into your work. It is always so beautiful!

My heart is heavy for Paris also. I have an urgent prayer request if you could please pray for. I would appreciate it so much!!

Every one of your creations is lovely and evokes the true love and caring you created into them. I know what you mean about having an idea abd waiting for weeks or months to get just the perfect materials you need to bring it to fruition. My husband goes into MY lttle under the garage room and looks at the many collections of materials or partially finished projects and asks "WHY"? I just tell him, genius takes time. Your creations are pure genius!

Your pieces are so precious, Becky. I love handmade and small shops. I try to shop local and small whenever I can. It's so important for entrepreneurs to be supported. Everything doesn't need to be large and manufactured. And, yes we should all be aware of our surroundings and be praying for, not only our country, but all those who are in harms way. Blessings, Cindy

I agree with you totally on both statements
Buy home made items from etsy shops and other shops

And be aware of your surroundings, in public places.
Evil is out to get America and it can be seen everywhere, even in our University's

I am in Agreement, my Heart aches for those affected by violence of any kind and we can only Pray that God's Love finds it's way into the Hearts of those who don't yet know Him in a way that would make such acts no longer a part of their way of Being. There is never a good excuse for Evil behavior and it is certainly not Godly. We too support Small Businesses in any way possible since we Believe they are the backbone of America and the Spirit of the Entrepreneur. The Essence of the Artist is in each Created piece and that also always makes it more Special than any mass produced product. Merry Christmas from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian

Your creations are beautiful Becky and I feel EXACTLY the same as you about my whole process. I love Knit Picks and Hobby Lobby but most of my business is done with my local yarn shop that is right down the street from me. I was her first customer in the door when she opened 10 years ago :-)
The joy I get from the hunt for just the right fiber and tools for each piece, especially a custom order, and then the actual making of it is priceless. Then when someone is truly thrilled with the finished work.... What a Blessing!
I am also praying for Paris and, like you, know we need to be in prayer and be more aware.
Be Blessed My Friend,
